Next, we have inspirational itineraries . Think of these as your ready-made holiday scaffolding. Using their extensive experience, our Travel Specialists have paired our most popular destinations and picked out their top travel highlights, leaving you with a showstopping holiday outline. Take it as it comes, or customise hotel selections and durations so your getaway is just how you want it to be. Perfect for solo travellers, honeymooners, family trips and friend holidays, you can’t go wrong with an inspirational itinerary. We call these twin-centres for two locations or multi-centres when three or more resorts or countries are combined on the same adventure of a lifetime.

BROCHURE ESSENTIALS Before we tuck into all things Asia, it’s only right we get you up to speed with the Travelbag lingo. You’ll find many fantastic holiday options in this brochure, and while no two trips are the same, we’re all about making things simple. So, we’ve broken it down into three different modes of holiday: private touring, inspirational itineraries and small group touring.

And finally, let’s talk about small group touring or escorted touring . This option is ideal for anyone wanting a holiday that’s big on experience – maximising every second of your time with a pre-planned itinerary and set departure dates. You’ll share your adventure with a small group of like minded travellers, and the majority of your activities, accommodation and most meals will be included in the price, making for a worry-free trip away. Ideal for first-time trips to a country, small group touring promises an action packed holiday.

First up, private touring. These types of trips are completely bespoke and carefully crafted by our Travel Specialists, who’ll work closely with you to bring your wildest travel dreams to life. Each element of your holiday will be organised in advance, and you’ll be paired with a private tour guide who’ll get you from A to B seamlessly while you’re away. Whatever your budget or holiday timeframe – whether you want to stick to one country or explore multiple – a private tour is an excellent option.

While Thailand’s cities are kinetic, its castaway style beaches are what sets this country apart. Head to Thailand’s famous islands, and you’ll find stretches of soft white sand set against a backdrop of dramatic limestone karsts. Beach holidays in Thailand are so popular that the country has garnered a devoted tribe of sun worshippers who return time and time again. Depending on the kind of traveller you are, Thailand has it all. Those seeking an activity-based holiday will be spoilt for choice as the diving and snorkelling here are world-famous. There are also white water rafting, rock climbing, wakeboarding, kitesurfing and jet-skiing opportunities. A highlight for many, Thailand’s cuisine adds spice, offering fresh, vibrant and mouth-watering flavours with a warm dose of hospitality. Journeying north, you’ll want to stop in Chiang Mai - Thailand’s second city. Thailand’s largest island and most diverse beach destination offers something different for every visitor. At the centre of the western coast, the original party resort of Patong is lined with bustling bars and aromatic restaurants while boats, boards, and jet skis splash through the off-shore waves. The town bursts with neon lights at night while its music keeps you dancing until dawn. A little south, Karon is quieter by comparison but filled with an authentic holiday atmosphere. Food stalls and boutiques sit in tucked-away lanes while the soft sand is perfect for relaxing. Picturesque and family friendly, Kata offers safe swimming spots, massages on the shores and some of the island’s most beautiful hotels.

Leave the land behind for snorkelling in the open sea and picnics on uninhabited sands before jetting back on a thrilling speedboat ride.

Further north, and handy for the airport, are the more exclusive and protected bays of Bangtao and Nai Thon, where luxurious properties offer calmer spaces for families, couples and honeymooners.

When you’re not sunbathing, splashing, or sipping cocktails, Thai culture is waiting to be explored with trips to the Big Buddha on Nakkerd Hills, the Authentic Rawai Village near tranquil Nai Harn Beach, and the serene temples of Wat Chalong and Wat Phra Thong. For those looking to stretch their legs, incredible views are earned on a hike to the Karon View Point.

The Essentials

For a different side of the island - quite literally - a cluster of hotels around laidback Panwa Beach and Siray Bay gives easy access to the Sino-Portuguese streets of Old Phuket Town. Here, colourful colonial buildings provide homes to craft markets and family cafés with a vibe that offers a casual antidote to the busy beaches in the west.

BEST TIME TO GO November to April brings warm sun and blue skies for beach days and party nights. FUN FACT Standing 45 metres high, Phuket’s Big Buddha is one of the tallest in Thailand. TOP TIP Choose a hotel with a swim-out room and stay cool in the afternoon sun.

Whatever holiday style you prefer, Phuket is about enjoyment, indulgence, and relaxation on its sensational Andaman shores.

A wide range of boat trips depart from the east coast, including to Khao Phing Kan, where James Bond and Scaramanga held their famous duel in The Man With the Golden Gun .

much brighter picture in terms of animal tourism, and now more than ever, places with strong-rooted, ethical foundations are enjoying a well-justified share of the spotlight. One such place is Elephant Hills – an award-winning camp that allows its guests to observe and safari alongside Thailand’s most revered creature. You’ll find no chains or offers of elephant rides here. Instead, you’ll be venturing into the heart of Khao Sok National Park, to an area of vast rainforest wilderness where elephants roam freely. Surrounded by limestone mountains and pristine lakes, the location is nothing short of picture-worthy and well worth a visit, but the Elephant Hills experience gives it that additional ‘wow factor’. With two camps, one deep within the jungle and the other perched beside the tranquil Cheow Lan Lake, glamping gets taken to the next level. Picture king-sized beds and en-suite bathrooms cocooned within an African-style tent, and you’ve got the beginnings of what lies in store. Although, admittedly, away from your accommodation is where the adventure truly begins. Throughout your safari experience, you’ll get up to a number of activities

both during the day and in the evening. Of course, getting to spend time with the elephants – walking alongside and hand-feeding Asia’s largest land mammal – is perhaps the most anticipated on the list. But canoe trips, cooking demonstrations, jungle treks and junk boat tours add to the excitement, too. For some, at first glance, trips to Elephant Hills may appear to be too ‘out there’. But this is something for everyone – not just seasoned explorers. It’s

to be a unique and truly unforgettable addition to any Thailand holiday. Whether you choose to combine it with an island hopping trip to the south, a culture infused tour of the north, or a simple ‘fly and flop’ beach holiday, this is one you won’t want to miss.

Best time to go To avoid heavy rainfall - and maximise your time outdoors - visit Elephant Hills during Thailand’s dry season, which falls between November and early April.

easily accessible thanks to the free door-to-door transfers from various locations – including Krabi and Phuket – and the offering of shorter safaris, designed especially for families, make it an excellent option for those holidaying with kids. But, generally speaking, the park’s focus on ‘soft adventure’ makes it a welcome choice for almost any type of traveller.
