Days 1-2: Hit the ground running as you take in all the cultural sights of Kuala Lumpur. Visit temples, mosques and the city’s Central Market, admiring more of the eclectic architecture along the way. In the afternoon, you’ll head over to the famous Batu Caves – one of the most popular Hindu shrines outside of India. Day 3: Dive deeper into Malaysian history as you spend today touring religious sites and perusing the city’s fascinating museums. Get your camera ready as you drop by the incredible Cheng Hoon Teng Temple, then kick back as you embark on a tranquil boat cruise, soaking up all the sights and smells of the Malacca River. Days 4-5: Venture up to the Cameron Highlands – a picturesque district filled with fragrant lavender farms and emerald tea plantations. Drop by a tea garden and catch spectacular views from over 6,000 feet before embarking on a nature walk to learn about the area’s native flora and fauna. Days 6-7: After arriving in postcard-worthy Penang, you’ll head to the George Town markets, where you can have a leisurely wander through the stalls – and perhaps try your hand at bartering! Visit temples, churches and other
attractions, ready for your morning flight to Kota Kinabalu. Days 8-9: Tuck into a hearty breakfast and set out along winding roads, making your way towards Mari-Mari Cultural Village. Learn first-hand from the villagers about their way of life, delving into traditional bamboo cooking, tobacco-cutting and tattoo-making practices. Enjoy a local performance before returning to your hotel for an evening at leisure. Day 10: Catch an early flight to the island of Borneo and get ready for an epic day filled with wildlife. Best time to go On the mainland, Kuala Lumpur is driest between May and August, when temperatures average 32°C. At the other end of the spectrum, March and April are the wettest months in the capital, so you may wish to avoid going at this time of year.
