STAY COOL IN THE MIDDLE EAST

ANANTARA MINA RAS AL KHAIMAH RESORT

Pool villas perched over blue seas , warmed by all-day sun from cloudless skies. It’s a tropical paradise escape, but it’s not the Maldives or Bora Bora. Anantara Mina Ras Al Khaimah Resort is on the UAE coast, a little over an hour’s drive from Dubai. Or keep cool in one of the indoor (or partially indoor) theme parks, such as LEGOLAND® Dubai or IMG Worlds of Adventure . As the sun sets, leave the city behind and bounce across sand dunes in your air-conditioned 4WD.

There’s also the Heavenly Spa , the Westin Family Kids Club and Bubbalicious , one of the Emirates’ most famous brunches. And, with dine around half board and all-inclusive options , satisfying appetites throughout every stay is a doddle – and delicious. THE WESTIN DUBAI MINA SEYAHI BEACH RESORT & MARINA

AQUAVENTURE WATERPARK

In Abu Dhabi, head inside for thrilling rides at Warner Bros. World™ Abu Dhabi , splash about at Yas Waterworld , or feel the wind in your face on the world’s fastest roller coaster at Ferrari World . If relaxing is more your speed, why not spend an afternoon indulging in one of the stunning resort spas? Spend the day in one of the region’s incredible air-conditioned malls . Or try something seemingly impossible in a desert city – go indoor skiing in Dubai. Surrounded by cosy chalets and restaurants , there’s nothing quite like hitting the slopes while shoppers pass by. Even surrounded by desert, there’s no shortage of ways to stay cool .

The landscapes across Canada vary greatly. Are you a snowy slopes , alpine lakes , and valley railroads type? Or are river cruises , harbour towns , fresh seafood and windswept beaches more your style? Scenes VS Sights From the Rockies to the Pacific, big scenery is what British Columbia and Alberta are all about. See the glassy waters of Lake Louise , bear-filled forests on Vancouver Island , pristine glaciers in the Columbia Icefield and misty rainforests at the Pacific Rim. El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama all have their attractions, though some are easier to get to than others. It’s hard to pick just one highlight, but one unforgettable moment of my trip was climbing to the top of the Cape Forchu Lighthouse . The views at the top were stunning. Another highlight was tasting the delicious seafood at Le Caveau at Grand Pré Winery. The settings, hospitality, food and wine were all amazing.

GRENADA

SINGAPORE

Grenada was an incredible place to visit; it felt very safe and was easy to get out and about. Snorkelling is amazing here, and we visited the Underwater Sculpture Park , which is a must-see. Within the island, there are waterfalls and rainforests, so it’s good to get out for the day and explore.

Mauritius is a destination for everyone, couples, families, young and old. All the hotels spoil their guests and are so welcoming. The island is hot and sunny year-round, even in the winter months. Amazing sandy beaches with clear blue seas. Paradise at an affordable price! The whole trip was a highlight, but landing a small plane on K’gari (Fraser Island) was an exhilarating experience that offered a different perspective on the island’s natural beauty. It was truly unforgettable to witness the breathtaking aerial views, from the island’s white sandy beaches and lush rainforests to its crystal clear lakes and rolling sand dunes.

K’GARI, AUSTRALIA

Singapore is so much more than a stopover destination. There are many things to see and do here beyond the designer label shops of Orchard Road, and it definitely warrants more than a traditional two-night stop on the way to somewhere else. We had four nights with a jam-packed itinerary and felt like we’d only just scratched the surface.

MEET... CAITLYN PEARCE CHELTENHAM SHOP MANAGER 10 years down and counting! Caitlyn’s incredible journey with Travelbag stretches a full decade, and come November, she’ll hit the big 1-1!

WHAT’S NEXT ON YOUR PERSONAL TRAVEL BUCKET LIST?

IS THERE A TRIP YOU’VE HELPED PLAN THAT YOU STILL THINK ABOUT YEARS LATER? I never tire of helping people with Canada itineraries that involve Rocky Mountaineer and conclude with an Alaska cruise. WHAT’S YOUR GUILTY PLEASURE WHEN ON HOLIDAY? I love a magnet…or 10! My fridge gives that away. WHAT’S YOUR PROUDEST MOMENT FROM YOUR 10 YEARS AT TRAVELBAG? It has to be coming back to Cheltenham as the Branch Manager, 10 years after starting here as a sales consultant.

I was planning to go to Mexico for the Day of the Dead festival in November – I’m fascinated!

WHAT’S THE MOST SPONTANEOUS THING YOU’VE EVER DONE ON A TRIP? Probably a skydive in New Zealand, which they tried to cancel a few times due to the heavy winds. We went anyway and I loved it – I couldn’t understand why everyone was so scared. WHAT’S THE BEST WAY TO DEAL WITH JET LAG? I haven’t figured that out yet - it knocks me dead every time!

OF ALL THE PLACES YOU’VE BEEN, WHICH ONE IS YOUR FAVOURITE? My favourite place is Antigua, as I had the opportunity to swim with stingrays – they are so mischievous and cute! The beaches are beautiful too. There are 365, one for every day of the year. WHAT’S CHANGED THE MOST IN TRAVEL SINCE YOU STARTED? It’s now much more accessible to everyone. When I started, there were only a small percentage of people taking big, long-haul trips – now we see travellers of all ages, which I love!

DO YOU REMEMBER YOUR FIRST BOOKING? WHAT’S THE ONE THING YOU ALWAYS PACK, NO MATTER WHERE YOU GO? I’m always listening to music on my headphones. My first booking was a twin-centre trip to Las Vegas and San Francisco, and I remember being baffled when the client mentioned playing golf in Vegas - who knew that was a thing?
