Meet your chauffeur guide and head straight for the Cultural Triangle. Relax and refresh from the flight or join a game drive in Minneriya National Park, home to the world’s largest gathering of elephants. Explore from a central base or move hotels as you visit the original capital of Anuradhapura, the rock fortress of Sigiriya, the cave temple at Dambulla, and the 11th-century ruins of Polonnaruwa. After sightseeing, settle into the cultural capital of Kandy. Enjoy time at a luxurious riverside hotel on the outskirts, or stay centrally for easy access to shopping and dining in the lakeside city. Build your itinerary around learning from the stories and exhibits of the National Museum of Kandy, wandering among global greenery at the Royal Botanic Gardens, or attending a spiritual service at the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. From Kandy, travel with your private driver or hop onto one of Sri Lanka’s most celebrated train rides to pass tea plantations, villages, and waterfalls on your route to Nuwara Eliya. Here, among the forested slopes of the Hill Country, you can savour a decadent afternoon tea, play

a round of golf, take a tea factory tour, or perhaps all three. Two national parks dominate the south of Sri Lanka, and you can pick your favourite on day seven. Do you choose beachside Yala, home to sloth bears, wild boar, and the world’s highest concentration of leopards? Or go to Udawalawe to see buffaloes, crocodiles, sambar deer, and free roaming elephants? Whichever you opt for, a full afternoon safari is at the top of your agenda before a tranquil night close by. Follow a final morning visit to the ethical Elephant Transit Home in Udawalawe with an afternoon in the colonial port of Galle. Walk the walls of Galle Fort, stop for lunch at a sleepy café, and pick up souvenirs from boutique shops on cobbled streets. Your tour ends with a direct transfer to the airport or a drop-off at the beach hotel of your choice.
