BANFF NATIONAL PARK
W hether you fly into Vancouver or land in Calgary and head straight for the mountains, Western Canada is dramatic, dynamic, and delightful. Warm welcomes and friendly faces greet every guest wherever you go. Keep watch for black bears as you hike through coastal temperate rainforest to find untouched beaches on Vancouver Island. See orcas and humpbacks in the Pacific, or climb Grouse Mountain to survey the scene before diving downtown for a festival of food. When it’s time to leave the city, drive the stunning Sea-to-Sky Highway to Whistler or board the swish Rocky Mountaineer for a rail journey through the clouds.
Away from the coast, Western Canada’s biggest attractions rest in its peaks. Alpine towns like Banff, Jasper, and Calgary are winter playgrounds for skiers and snowboarders and a paradise for outdoor adventurers in summer. Hike and bike around forest trails. Kayak or canoe on glass-like lakes. Splash through white-water rapids. Ride cable cars for spectacular views. And track bears for unforgettable encounters. When the sun sets, and the excitement winds down, retire to a luxury lodge for a fireside dinner and sip warming spirits before stepping out to spot stars in the unspoiled sky.
