It’s then time for the real adventure to begin. Head to Ushuaia, the world’s most southern city. Explore dramatic landscapes in Tierra del Fuego National Park and keep an eye out for red foxes, condors, eagles and beavers. Visit the Museo Marítimo y del Presidio, the Prison at the End of the World and learn about its famous prisoners. There is also the option to go out in search of sea lions and Magellanic penguins. El Calafate is up next, the gateway to Los Glaciares National Park. Here, explore massive glaciers, interconnected fjords and mountainside glacial lakes. In Puerto Natales, explore Rupestre Patagonia Park, which showcases Patagonia’s natural and cultural riches, then hop over to Torres del Paine National Park, with its waterfalls, shimmering lakes and jagged mountains.

Buenos Aires | Puerto Madryn | Ushuaia | El Calafate

On this nine-day itinerary, you will see some incredible scenery as well as animals that you might not have seen before. First, spend a night in Buenos Aires, visit the glamorous neighbourhoods of Recoleta and Palermo and see the picturesque San Telmo, Buenos Aires’ first settlement. Then head south to Puerto Madryn; from here, you can reach Punta Tombo, where the largest Magellanic penguin colony congregates during breeding season (September to March). The next day, head to Punta Delgada, where there is the opportunity to see elephant seals, depending on the season. Other wildlife in the area includes guanacos, foxes, pichis and skunks. Further south in Ushuaia, tour Tierra del Fuego National Park, and learn about the different flora and fauna. The last destination before heading back to Argentina’s capital is El Calafate. Take a tour to Perito Moreno Glacier, one of the only advancing glaciers in the world. You might also get to see ice calvings, when blocks of ice break off from the glacier and make thunderous noises as they hit the water.
