Starting in Santa Cruz, explore the city built in a circle, see monuments, visit a museum and tour craft shops. In the capital of Bolivia, Sucre, situated at 2,700 metres high, visit Casa de la Libertad, where the Act of Independence of Bolivia was signed in 1825. Travel by road on a three-hour journey to a higher elevation where the colonial mining city of Potosi is located. You will feel as if you have stepped back in time. Carrying on to Colchani, a town next to the Uyuni Salt Flats. Observe the methods of salt extraction, see the train cemetery, and witness the giant cacti. Next, head to Sun Island in the southern part of Lake Titicaca. Enjoy a traditional lunch, visit the Pilkokaina Inca Temple and hike to La Estancia for a wonderful view. La Paz is the last stop. Ride the El Alto cable car for stunning views, tour through the city’s street markets, visit the Gold Museum, and see the Valley of the Moon, where the clay mountains’ erosion has created a dramatic view.

Travel by road to Paracas, three hours south of Lima. Consider adding an optional extra flight over the Nazca Lines, a series of large geoglyphs in the Nazca Desert created between 200 BCE and 600 CE. Paracas is known for its stunning coastline and marine life, which you will get to explore on a boat trip to the Ballestas Islands, home to sea lions, 18 species of birds, including Humboldt penguins and red-legged cormorants. After a quick stopover in Lima, head to Cusco to discover the Inca Empire, explore San Pedro market, visit the Koricancha temple and ascend to the fortress of Sacsayhuaman. You will also get to experience Machu Picchu. Ride the train to Aguas Calientes and then take the bus to the site.
