The next day, it is time to take a short flight over to Baltra Island to board a ship. Embark on a journey to discover the rich marine life, abundant bird colonies and natural landscapes of the Galapagos Islands. Hike over pahoehoe lava on Bahia Sullivan, discover Post Office Bay where the oldest postal system in the Americas is still used today, walk along the beach dodging sea lions at Bahia Gardner and snorkel off the coast of Isla Espanola to see reef sharks, turtles and many species of tropical fish. On San Cristobal Island, the most easterly in the archipelago, enjoy some free time, maybe discover the history and geography of the island at the San Cristobal Interpretation Center. On your journey around the Galapagos, you will hopefully get to see pink flamingos, Galapagos sharks, fur seals, iguanas, varied birdlife, and so much more, all alongside some vistas unique to this remote part of the world.

Quito | Mashpi | Zuleta | Galapagos

After arriving in Quito, spend a night in the city before heading to the Ecuadorian Cloud Forest. Stay at Mashpi Lodge to appreciate panoramic views of the forest from the observation tower and ride a Sky Bike along a cable stretched across a gorge. You’ll also get to visit the hummingbird garden, walk along the howler monkey trail and head out on a night walk to observe nocturnal animals. Next, stay at Hacienda Zuleta, a beautiful 17th-century working farm turned family-run boutique hotel and enjoy the activities before heading back to Quito. After a short flight to the Galapagos, enjoy three nights on board the MC Elite ship. Visit a breeding centre where they protect turtles. Spot sea lions and colourful marine iguanas in Punta Suarez and see the largest colony of waved albatross (between April and November). Snorkel at Devil’s Crown, a volcanic crater which is one of the best dive spots in the Galapagos. Visit Baroness lookout and enjoy wonderful views of the ocean, Floreana Island and Post Office Bay.
